How This IQ Test Works
You can take a 10 or 15 question test that measures a few kinds of reasoning: number and letter series, logical patterns, verbal analogies and word puzzles. Every test mixes easy, medium and genuinely hard questions drawn at random from a large bank, so no two attempts are the same. You pick the best answer for each question, and at the end you get an estimated IQ score along with a percentile that shows how you compare with others.
Understanding the IQ Scale
IQ scores sit on a bell curve. The average is set to 100 and scores spread out from there. Here is the rough breakdown:
- 135 and above: Exceptional (very rare)
- 130 to 134: Very superior (about the top 2%)
- 120 to 129: Superior
- 110 to 119: Above average
- 90 to 109: Average, where most people are
- 80 to 89: Below average
- Below 80: Low average
About 68% of people score between 85 and 115, so a score in that range is completely normal.
How We Estimate Your Score
Harder questions are weighted more than easy ones, so getting the tough ones right moves your score more. The weighted result is then mapped onto the standard curve (average 100, standard deviation 15) to produce an estimated IQ and a percentile. A percentile of 84, for example, means you did better than about 84 out of 100 people who take a test like this.
An Honest Note
This test is for fun and self curiosity. It is short, so the result is a rough estimate and not a real or certified IQ measurement. A proper IQ assessment uses a much longer, professionally standardised test given by a qualified psychologist. Please enjoy the score, but do not treat it as an official result.
